Activism & Advocacy Committee

This committee covers two areas: activism and advocacy.

Activism includes organizing/attending protests and rallies, joining a coalition action alongside partners like Wake County Indivisible and 50501NC, tabling at Pride festivals and other activist events, and similar activities.

Advocacy includes political engagement like encouraging voter registration and participation in the political process and advocating for issues on the legislative side: meeting with lawmakers, tracking bad bills, and educating our community on actions we can take. The major projects for advocacy include our annual Advocacy Day (group trip to the General Assembly to meet with legislators) and advocating for or against bills that fall under the separation of church and state.

The committee may also recommend guest speakers or build out new event types with an activism or advocacy focus.
