  • Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area 625 Virginia Cates Road Hillsborough, North Carolina, 27278 United States (map)

A Hike That Takes as Long to Hike as it Does to Spell the Park’s Name Right

Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area
625 Virginia Cates Rd | Hillsborough, NC
Saturday, August 29 | 8:30 - 10:30 AM

Come out to enjoy fresh air and time with your fellow secular folk! We will combine a couple trails this morning. A short stretch on the back is fairly strenuous, climbing the equivalent of about 12 flights of stairs, but we will have a pleasant rest at a scenic overlook.

8:30 AM - 10:30 AM: Combination of parts of Occoneechee Mountain Loop Trail and Chestnut Oak Loop (4.5 miles total)

What to expect at TFS Hikes:

  • A brisk / fitness pace - 3 mph

  • Terrain that can be rooty or rocky

  • Some steep hills or creek crossings

  • 2-2.5 hrs of exercise and adventure

If you aren’t sure you will enjoy keeping up with the group, please consider the TFS events labeled “Walk.”

Dogs are welcome if they are friendly and leashed. Don’t forget extra water and poop bags for your four-legged hiker.

While this event is open to the public and all are welcome, this is not a time or place for evangelizing and harassment/discrimination will not be tolerated. We are an inclusive organization and anyone causing a disturbance or intentionally making others uncomfortable will be asked to leave.
